AMENDED SENIOR CERTIFICATE IS YOUR PASSPORT TO THE FUTURE

Did you know that stats released by the Department of Basic Education in 2019, reveal that for every three learners who start Grade 1 together, only one will go onto to matriculate?
This is the sad and bleak reality South Africans face due to many socio-economic contributing factors, such as poverty, unemployment, and an unstable education system.

This raises the question, how can one uplift and empower themselves to evade these negative stats and be the exception to the matriculating rule?

If you are one of many South Africans who are without a matric qualification and you desperately want to turn back time and redo, or obtain your Grade 12, there is a solution!

In reality you may not be presented with a majestic, wand-raised, time-travel opportunity like in the Harry Potter franchise, however ICESA can help turn your dreams into reality.

If you are over the age of 21 and still without a matric, you can apply for an Amended Senior Certificate (ASC) that allows you to take control of your present and reshape your future. The ASC is your second chance to rewrite your life story!

What is an Amended Senior Certificate (ASC)?

An Amended Senior Certificate is essentially a matric qualification that’s specifically aimed at those aged 21 years and older, who could not complete their matric. Whether you failed your matric or dropped out and would now like to get your matric certificate, an ASC is the route to take.

Why is a Matric Certificate important?

A matric certificate allows you to access a variety of post-school opportunities. These include admission to learnerships, internships, and higher education institutions. In the professional field for almost any job, a matric certificate is the minimum entry requirement. This alone tells you how imperative it is to ensure that you have a matric qualification.

Where can I enrol for my ASC?

ICESA offers the Amended Senior Certificate as a programme for learners aged 21 years and older. Whether you only want to rewrite a select number of subjects or want to completely redo your matric, the ICESA Matric School is the best solution for you.

Requirements to study for an ASC?

To be admitted to study for an ASC you need to fall in any of the following categories or possess the below listed:

  • A General Education and Training Certificate (GETC); or Grade 9 school report (or the old standard seven) stating that you passed Grade 9 or Standard 7; or recognised equivalent qualification obtained at NQF Level which requires two official languages.
  • An incomplete Senior Certificate qualification.
  • An incomplete National Senior Certificate with an expired School-Based Assessment validity.
